If you are currently using Mounjaro® as part of your treatment at Alevia, you may notice that your next KwikPen® looks different from the pen you have used previously.
This change relates to the pen device. Continue to follow the Instructions for Use leaflet included in your pack, and contact your Alevia care team if you are unsure which pen you have received or how to use it.
What’s changing?
Eli Lilly, the manufacturer of Mounjaro®, has released a modified version of the KwikPen® device. During the transition period, pharmacies may supply either the original pen or the modified pen, depending on available stock.
The medicine and dosing instructions should be followed exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
What may look different?
There are three device changes you may notice:
1. The plunger may sit lower when the pen is new
When you receive a fresh, unused modified KwikPen®, the plunger may appear lower in the cartridge than you are used to. This reflects the updated device design.
2. There is a new internal component behind the plunger
The modified pen includes an additional internal component behind the plunger. You may be able to see this through the viewing window. Refer to the updated Instructions for Use leaflet included in your pack.
3. After the 4th dose, the plunger may sit near the bottom of the cartridge
After your 4th weekly dose, the plunger position helps show that the four doses have been delivered and the pen is ready to be disposed of as instructed.
What stays the same?
Both the original and modified KwikPen® contain 4 weekly doses.
The injection steps remain the same. Always follow the Instructions for Use leaflet included with your pack.
The pen is designed to prevent you from dialling another dose after the 4th injection.
Some medicine may remain in the pen after the 4th dose. This is expected. Do not attempt to use any remaining medicine as an extra dose.

Important reminders
Prime your KwikPen® before every injection, following the Instructions for Use.
Needles are not included in the Mounjaro® pack. Make sure you have compatible needles before your injection day.
Record the date of each injection so you can keep track of your weekly schedule.
After your 4th weekly dose, dispose of the entire pen safely in a sharps container, including any remaining medicine.
